All teachers in treatment schools will have half of their classrooms randomly assigned to Group A and half to Group B. Researcher will notify you which sections are assigned to each group.
Classrooms assigned to Group A will follow the schedule shown below:
Present information about the study to students in class.
Send consent letters to parents.
Gather completed consent forms for researcher.
Ask students to complete assent form in class.
Notify researcher of all students who have completed consent and assent forms. (Some parents may complete the form electronically.)
Proceed with regular ELA curriculum and PYP playwriting program as scheduled
Implement 2-lesson scene revision mini-unit following protocols provided separately.
Notify researcher of the end date of the mini-unit.
Teachers and teaching artists will have control over exact timing so it fits authentically within the playwriting program.
(Protocols will not be posted on this website until after data collection is complete. This is to preserve integrity of the study so that Groups B and C do not inadvertently use the intervention strategies.)
About two weeks after mini-unit is complete, administer survey to all participants via Google Forms. Survey may be given after the conclusion of the PYP residency if necessary.
Remind students that their answers will remain confidential and are not shared. Only the researcher will have access to their individual responses.
Non-participating students may skip the survey or may take it if they choose; their data will be removed before analysis.
Notify researcher of any participating students who withdraw consent.
Researcher will provide you with pens and stickers to distribute to all participating students.
